After graduating from the New York School of Interior Design in 1973, Shirley formed her own design firm, Shirley Scott Interiors, in New York City. Design projects included condos/co-ops and offices in Manhattan as well as homes in the Hamptons and New Jersey. From 1980 to 1990, while maintaining a successful design business in the City, she also owned and operated Shirley Scott Gallery in Southampton, which featured unique fine furnishings and art.
In 1994, Shirley relocated to the Twin Cities and worked as a Senior Designer at The Design Studio of Gabberts for eight years. In 2002, she opened Shirley Scott Interiors, an independent design firm.
Shirley’s projects have been featured in several design magazines (including two cover stories in Midwest Home & Garden) as well as in the Star Tribune Home Section. She has won
several MN Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers awards for Showcase House rooms as well as private residences –including a houseboat!
